I went and found a yoga class, really not a big
deal to take it in another language at all, though the instructor did speak
English and so would say the odd thing to me in English which was cool because
then I had really good personalized correction (if she was bothering to say it
in English, it obviously pertained to me!)...
My review of Blyss Yoga in Ipanema - friendly but small, you will definitely want to bring your own yoga mat or buy one there. It seems a yoga class is a yoga class, no matter where you are in the world. Noticeable differences between home & this yoga studio in particular - the manner in which I was physically corrected - the Brazilians have a much different sense of personal space, and when they want you to move your tailbone back when you are in downward dog, oh they will get you there! Haha... oh and the brightly colored yoga gear as well, although Lululemon back home does have quite a few prints & bright colors (although these styles are often considered "garish" by Canadian standards and I often see them in the bargain bin...)
Anyway! Back to the Yoga... although it was okay at Blyss and the people were friendly, I don't think I will be back. There are a few other studios I'd like to try out and in the meantime, I have really been enjoying the Yogamazing podcast - try it out sometime, FREE on Itunes. A new class every week. Love it. And then I just add to it. My headstand is getting really good...
I am still looking for a yoga class on the beach though, when in Rio, right?
