Gula Gula
Ambiance: 4/5
This applies to the
Gula Gula located on Henrique Dumont – we have visited other locations and although
the food is equally as good, the ambiance is exceptional at Henrique
Dumont. Henrique Dumont location is an
old house converted into the restaurant with a beautiful yard with tables,
etc. At night it is all lit up with
candles and lanterns and is really beautiful.
Food: 4/5
The food is very
consistently good – nothing too out of the ordinary but very good and
dependable. See recommended dishes
below. Price – Entrees in the R$25-35 range.
Overall Impression: 4/5
If you go:
There are several
locations throughout the city and all are pretty good – especially for “mall
food” – there is a location in Shopping Rio Design in Leblon - but do visit the
Henrique Dumont location if you are bringing visitors or doing dinner out.
Recommended Dishes:
Salmon carpaccio is
exceptional here. Amazing juices too (raspberry-orange is great). I really
enjoy the flexibility of the menu – it allows you to choose a type of meat,
your sauce, and your sides. Excellent if
you are trying to eat healthy! If you
are not so worried about eating healthy, the chocolate mousse is TO DIE FOR. It
is fantastic – dark chocolate, no nuts (I’m allergic and this dish frequently
has nuts in it which prevents me from having it…) – highly recommended.
Address: A number of locations to serve
you, so I will just note the address of the Henrique Dumont location I like the
best: Rua Henrique Dumont, 57 PH: (21)
2259-3084

Ambiance: 5/5
Very funky with plates on the wall like art, chairs hanging from the ceiling, antiques everywhere and the coolest bathrooms ever (quartz-like gravel for floors! Interesting if you are wearing high heels). Fantastic party atmosphere. Packed & loud though.
Food: 4/5
Excellent food, a very wide selection of salads, buffet items and dessert, and any meat you could possibly want. One criticism I have is that they make you choose surf or turf (I think there should be a surf & turf option!) It is expensive, expect to spend upwards of R$150 per person if you are having a little bit of wine and dessert.
Overall Impression: 5/5
The atmosphere, staff, and food make for a very impressive night. A place to take guests when they come to Rio. It's admittedly a bit of a tourist trap, but understandably so!
If You Go:
Save room for the picana (and dessert). don't forget to check out those bathrooms! Walking to the restaurant also helps you not feel so guilty for overindulging as well (in my experience anyway...)
Address: At the end of Copacabana Beach (the Leme side)

With lanterns and candles lighted at night? That's a sweet place so it is a good place for couples, I think.

Don't put off bankruptcy forever. You might be better off filing early rather than juggling your debt for years. If you aren't sure what to do, search for a nonprofit agency that helps consumers navigate bankruptcy. These experts can advise you about the best time to file and can share information about what to expect. Many of these agencies provide classes or workshops about managing credit as well. http://www.jordan-11-retro.com
