Good thing my new year's resolution wasn't to post things on my blog in a timely manner. Would have had to call it a massive fail already and it's only January 25th.
Better late than never, right? Here are some terrible quality bb photos I captured on New Year's Eve on Copacabana beach. Mr. DRL and I arrived in Rio on the 30th after 2 weeks in Uruguay & Argentina. We intended to go to one of the big parties at a club on the beach but decided against it at the last minute, which was good because I actually ended up falling asleep on the beach before the fireworks began (yes, I woke up in time!). But that gives you an idea of how peaceful it can be down there - though we waded through blocks and blocks of rowdies on the way back out of course.
All in all a magical night. A brazilion (ok, in reality only about a million) Brazilians dressed in white, with flowers and offerings and wishes for 365 days of bliss...
A typical scene - families with candles and flowers...
So - how are those resolutions coming along?
Copacabana Beach is the site of attraction during the year for large music concerts featuring Brazilian bands and such international acts as the Rolling Stones. For these concerts, large sound stages are set up right on the beach and hundreds of thousands of people will show up for the all day and into the evening party.
