I really feel as though I have had the best of both worlds lately - a fun, interesting lifestyle in Brazil peppered with frequent trips back to North America for visits and amenities. It's been great. I know I'm lucky.
When I'm in Canada the things I appreciate most (besides the visiting) are the wide open spaces, fresh air, and feeling of purity. Here are some gorgeous shots I took while visiting relatives just outside of Vancouver that I thought I'd share.
(Yes, there are two shots of the Canadoca, one with her Nana, one of her getting a lacrosse lesson...)
I've only been here for 5 months, but I agree totally! I miss fresh air, open spaces and general cleanliness! I'm not a country girl, but I think Rio has made me appreciate the countryside much more!!

It is interesting how expats share the same thoughts in different directions. I found your blog and started to read it very often. I've been in Calgary for three years. My family and I miss the smell and the breeze from the ocean. I am from Niteroi. I am also missing summer here. We did not have a good summer this year. Louise is already snowing today! I am not the Terminator but I share his expression: "I will be back!". Cheers and enjoy Rio. Also visit Niteroi. It is worth the trip.
