| Getting A Brazilian Driver's License: Prepared for a Psychological Exam? »
- On Sunday I was kind of sad that we hadn't bothered to get tickets to see Guns N Roses as they were scheduled to play here that night, but I guess it was meant to be that way, since it was cancelled! Apparently their stage collapsed from heavy rains. We have been having some crazy weird weather. I would have liked to see them in concert here, though, as I am always tempted to play "Welcome to the Jungle" in the car on the way home from the airport when I pick up my visitors...
- Recently I wrote about a new fund featuring small-caps in Brazil - read more about it here.
- A grenade was found in front of a medical building in Leblon on Friday. Sketch!
- This is pretty old now (a month ago) but I really should mention the Canadian ship that capsized off the coast of Brazil recently. It was one of those "spend a semester on the seas" boats and everyone on board spent 40 hours in lifeboats before being rescued. Amazingly, they all survived. Click here to read more.
- There is some news about the Air France crash as well. There is a new one-month long effort starting at the end of March being made to locate the black box, by a team of underwater robots. Also it seems that a Brazilian court has taken it upon itself to order a settlement for a woman (Rio's attorney general) who was killed in the crash, though it doesn't seem as though they had jurisdiction to do so. Why does this not surprise me?
- Though there are a couple of Mac Stores here now (in Rio Design and Barra Shopping), Steve Jobs says that Rio's "super crazy tax policies" are keeping Apple from opening up a store here. He continues to say that this "prohibitive taxation "makes it very unattractive to invest in the country" Yeah, not the first time it's occurred to me that this guy knows his stuff...
- As I've mentioned on Twitter, Cristo is currently getting a facelift. If it's necessary for him, there's no hope for the rest of us...
