After experiencing Machu Picchu, we took a day of downtime, then headed back to Cuzco.
On the way to Cuzco, our driver took us to a women's cooperative organization to buy some handicrafts in Chinchero. Peru is known for its woven products and it was so interesting to see how the products were made from start to finish (they make and dye their own yarn, using plants, roots, etc. Incredible!)
To buy directly from these women, and to learn more about their organization, Asociacion Textil Tejidos Planos Con Plantas Naturales, Awana Wasi Tocapo, click here.
This is how the women in Peru carry their kids around - no baby Bjorns here!
We spent some time in Cuzco checking out the incredible Inkan-Spanish architecture before flying back to LIma
Back in Lima we found a great restaurant, Panchita, where we
enjoyed a great meal - and some Corn flavoured pop! It's purple - and
pretty good, this coming from someone who is not a pop drinker at all.
On Saturday we got up and explored our neighbourhood in Lima, Miraflores, the seafront is quite nice.
We then went out to this food and wine event, Mistura, which was nothing short
of crazy - thousands of people there so we knocked off early. The next
day, we left the land of tasty corn snacks, casinos, punch-buggies and
amazing food, flew to Santiago - more on that soon.
Miraflores is the best place to have vacation with our family. There are many hotels in Miraflores where you can taste amazing foods with variety of flavours. Fantastic!
