There are several clubs for foreigners to join here in Rio - the International Newcomer's Club, the American Society (which apparently welcomes more than just Americans). I am not a member of any of them but have been to events. Every year the INC has a big fundraiser, last year it was a fantastic event called the Taste of Rio. This year, they are having a 50's style party.

"Let it Rock", the INC's major fundraiser for 2009 will take place on September 18th, 2009 at the Paissandu Club in Leblon. Tickets are now available for this fantastic event so reserve yours now!
The theme is - you guessed it - a 50's rock and roll party, so come dressed in your favourite poodle skirt or Elvis get up and you may win the grand prize for best costume! However, if you don't feel like getting your 50's garb out of that closet-feel free to dress comfortably for dancing till the wee hours......But, remember, those of you that are Elvis impersonators or Marilyn Monroe look alikes-now is your chance to show it off! We will have lots of fabulous raffle prizes, great music from The Midnight Hour Band with Neville Thorley for you to "rock around the clock" to, and.......drinks dinner and more dancing.............all for the low price of R$100 per person! Remember, the proceeds from "Let it Rock" will go to fund the InC's charitable contributions for next year. So, come, for a good time and a good cause!
