I was wondering why you wanted to get your daughter a Brazilian passport. Does every ex-pat who has a baby in Brazil do that? Is it easier for visa purposes? I can imagine that this could be the subject of a whole new post!

Hey Mei - nice to see you back!
On the passport - it is not an issue of wanting to or not wanting to, rather of necessity. She is Brazilian and in order to leave/re-enter Brazil, she needs one. And believe me there will be posts on it... (it hasn't exactly been the most seamless process!)

That said, I'm really glad that Brazil gives children born here automatic citizenship. Who knows what sort of opportunities it will create for her in the future, dual citizenship is a pretty good perk for our little Canadoca!
