- Globalization is certainly not always a good thing... nor is the sudden availability of cheap food lacking quality... We've all heard of the Mediterranean diet - which is accredited with helping people live longer and reducing heart disease and cancer rates - yet apparently its roots are in danger! The traditional Mediterranean diet, which has Greek roots, consists of eating a lot of olive oil, fresh produce and fish... yet these days, 2/3 of kids are now OVERWEIGHT as Globalization has pushed the healthy food aside to make room for touristy chocolate shops, pizza places, ice cream parlors, soda machines and fast-food joints. - France wants to be the first country in the world whose gastronomy would be formally recognized by the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, known as Unesco. Interesting. Read more here.
